this is truly a colorful experiment in chemistry. you would require glucose, sodium hydroxide,
methylene blue and a flask. add a little glucose to the flask and then few crystals of sodium
hydroxide. then add a bit of water to the flask and shake it vigorously so that the
glucose and sodium hydroxide dissolve and make a solution. to this solution add a few
drops of methylene blue and mixture would become sky blue. now if you shake this mixture
it will make dark blue. but if you keep it at rest it consumes all the oxygen and surprisingly
the mixture becomes colorless. once again if you shake the flask it absorbs oxygen from
the atmosphere and the solution becomes blue once again. on keeping it at rest for a while
it consumes the oxygen and becomes colorless. so the color depends on whether the solution
is at rest or is being shaken, the color appears and disappears.
