Today on this 2007 Chrysler 300 we are going to be installing Curt hitch part number 13465.
We are underneath the vehicle, the first thing we want to do is lower down the exhaust. Depending
on your model you may have a single exhaust or a dual exhaust. On this particular vehicle
we have a single exhaust. There is a hanger here at the rear side of the exhaust and a
second one here at the forward side that we want to remove as well. If we follow forward
we need to lower down these two hangers here as well. On the rear hanger some models will
have this grounding strap, you want to make sure you take that off as well before you
lower the exhaust down. :39 Before you lower the exhaust off its hangers
we are going to take a spray lubricant like a WD-40 and spray down the studs of the exhaust.
With the studs lubricated, we want to take a pair of pliers or a pry bar and take and
separate the two pieces. Before I lower down the final two hangers here at the forward
side, we do want to put a support strap across the exhaust tube here. If the exhaust is not
properly supported when we lower the exhaust off the final two hangers it will down and
damage the system. I am gong to be using a basic ratchet strap. With the exhaust lowered,
it is a good idea
to remove the rear
most hanger off of the frame until
we get the hitch installed, then we will put it back into place. 1:27
