When I discovered William Eggleston's work,
I had been working three jobs while having this full-time office job,
and I needed something else to happen with my life
So, I started searching for some kind of
creative medium to put my focus into my life
I'm not Alex Prager
This is the wig that Elizabeth Banks wore
for "The Face in the Crowd"
I remember the first photo I saw
was with the ones with the dirty shoes under the bed
I was so moved by something so bland
I didn't understand what was so moving about
what I was looking at
because I'd never seen photography being shown as art before that
So that was the first real experience that I had with that
When I decided to first do the film,
it was to show the two sides of a crowd:
the sea of anonymous faces and yourself in the middle of it,
and then all the individual stories
I feel that I'm always looking at these people from a distance
like a ***
But I'm looking for a kind of disconnected connection
And even before I started the crowd series,
I was looking for something that was beautiful but awkward
This is Alex Prager
