Change has become the order of the day
and change morphing from one change into another change
change being very complex, change coming from the peripheries and the outside of
the organization as opposed to planned
from the top down, and all of this
places demand on people to be able to understand not only
what they're doing and what they see but what other people are doing and how all
of this has to come together
to move an organization forward. Most of our business education has come
at a time when organizations were very complex
in a very technical sense and so people learned technical expertise. They learned
finance, we learned accounting
so whereas historically decisions could be made by
an expert using their area of expertise
now decisions have to be made by executives who understand the strategic
implications. Agility is being on your toes waiting
and searching for the next things to come down the pipe
rather than sitting back
and waiting and admiring your handiwork.
When I put it into the context for them
along with skills and language to go with it
it's like a breath of fresh air
the conversations that the group gets into and many a time
I just end up sitting aside and letting the group go
because the the knowledge the expertise the sheer delight in learning
and having an opportunity to
interact on such an intellectual level is just so wonderful an opportunity for
for the participant
that they just...
at the end... they've been in tears they didn't want to leave
the program. I'm really proud of this course and hope that you'll come join us.
