Is it bad if my iPhone gets hot?
I thought you wanted all the hot designs.
I mean physically hot.
If your cell phone is overheating, that will shorten the battery life and could fry the
circuits.
Could it literally fry?
It is rare for an iPhone to get that hot because of over-charging or another problem, but it
can happen.
I’ve heard of cell phones exploding because they got to hot.
That’s been documented with both iPhones and Samsung phones. There was even a Chinese
woman electrocuted by her phone.
That’s one heck of a lapse in quality control.
The electrocution was traced to a poorly made third party charger. Some of the other cases
are thought to be due to bad, cheap cell phone batteries.
When they tell you not to buy second-rate products, no one says it could literally burn
you.
If it gets hot, the first thing you should do is unplug it.
If I’m awake, sure. But my house could burn down before I get to it.
That actually happened to a guy in Hong Kong, though it was a Samsung phone. If your phone
is regularly getting hot while charging or using it, take it into the Apple store to
get it fixed.
Do iPhones regularly melt down or explode? There was a Chinese woman who said hers exploded,
scratching her eye.
There are tens of millions of iPhones, and stories like this crop up every few months
from around the world. You could see 60 iPhones a year blow up or melt down and still meet
the best quality standards in the world.
And this is Apple.
They are still way ahead of Microsoft.
What if I leave the phone on the dash?
Leave it on your seat while you have a sun shade up, if you can’t take it with you.
But in that case, you could just shorten the electronics operating life.
It sounds like a phone getting too hot isn’t too common.
Far less likely than dropping it in the toilet, which is a regular warranty issue for Apple.
