This is an overview of a Sectional Center Pole used in pole tents.
Center poles run vertically from the ground to the peak of the tent, providing watershed
and usable space within the tent.
Depending on the requirement, a center pole is generally constructed using 2 or 3 pieces.
The bottom pole is constructed with a cap at the base of the pole to prevent
it from sinking into the ground,
and a swaged piece on the opposite end to allow it to slide inside another pole.
The top pole is open at the base and has a cap with a pin at the opposite end. The top pin
slides through the tents fabric and assists to hold the pole in a vertical position.
An insert is installed between a bottom pole and a top pole to create different heights.
A 2 piece center pole consists of a bottom pole and a top pole.
A 3 piece center pole consists of a bottom pole, an insert, and a top pole.
