Fatal rains sweep Afghanistan. On Wednesday, July 28 flash floods set off by heavy rains
claimed 40 lives and injured 17 others in the Kapisa and Laghman provinces. More than
10,000 homes were destroyed, forcing 500 families to seek shelter in main cities, while several
roads to remote areas were blocked, hindering the arrival or supplies and rescue teams.
Farmlands also suffered extensive damage. The Afghanistan National Disasters Management
Authority (ANDMA) has stated that it is assessing the situation and is working to provide relief
in coordination with UN agencies and non-governmental organizations.
Our appreciation, Afghanistan National Disasters Management Authority, UN agencies and all
helping personnel for your endeavors to assist the flood victims. As we send our sincere
sympathies for the loss of loved ones, may Allah bless the affected Afghan people with
protection and a smooth recovery to regular daily lives as our striving for greater kindness
helps ease such distressing situations as these
