Hey guys, SIKMEN here and today I’m going to be giving you my iPhone 5 rumour roundup
and final predictions for its features and design that should made clear to us on September
the 12th. I’m going to give you the best idea of what to expect from my years of experience
in being possessed by iDevices. I’m going to show you everything you need to know about
Apple’s next iPhone from my long history of following Apple rumours and from studying
current leaks and predictions. So firstly I’d like to say that I’ve separated
all the rumours for the iPhone 5 into 3 categories. The first category is the likely category,
indicated by green. The 2nd category is maybe, which indicates about a 50/50 chance of manifesting
illustrated by a amber light and the 3rd category is the unlikely category, indicating a low
chance of panning out marked by a red light. So firstly let’s start off with the likely
category. The Next generation iPhone is likely to have a home button, obviously. There were
some rumours some months ago about a wider home button with touch capabilities and even
some about not one at all but they were debunked quickly. Just like every next generation iPhone
model that’s not on the 2nd year of Apple’s two year cycle we can expect the next iPhone
to thinner, lighter and faster and with Apple taking ridiculously long to upgrade the RAM
we can see a strong likelihood of some upgraded memory to help with that.
To assist in the thinner department the iPhone can be expected to have a stronger, thinner
metallic design about 3mm leaner than the 4S with an in-cell display that fuses the
touchscreen glass and other essential screen components together for a dramatically thinner
screen. Another part of this redesign is the two toned back with a metal middle for strength
and good looks and stronger coloured glass or plastic on the bottom sections of the back
to allow for signal passage and with the rumoured 4G LTE and likely enhanced Bluetooth features
the New iPhone’s going to need it. Now on the front of this redesigned iPhone
you will likely find, come it’s release a 4” screen. Not increased diagonally but
upwards. Having exactly the same account of pixels spanning it’s width it still keeps
the retina display with the new pixels being added at the top and bottom of the display.
At the top of the new iPhone you will see nothing new but on the side you will likely
find a Nano sim slot that Apple just patented not too long ago that is about 40% smaller
than the micro sim of the iPhone 4S. Now on the bottom of the device is where the headphone
jack has been moved where you should be able to connect you redesigned Apple earphones
that appear stronger, more comfortable and of being capable of delivering better sound
with their design appearing to be able to channel sound directly into your ear canal.
What makes this headphone jack migration possible is the redesign of the dock connector from
a 30 pin beast to a small, sleek 8 to 9 pin connector that loses no functionality over
the old one and to accommodate this change Apple should be including a fitting sync cable
and be selling an adapter to accommodate old accessories separately. With the dock connector
so small there is even enough room for a massively improved speaker and microphone with a grill
design that looks louder and higher quality. And to power this beast of a device with power
sucking 4G, increased pixels lengthways and double the RAM the new iPhone requires a higher
quality battery. This battery is rumoured to be the same thickness as the current one
but be bigger and hold a good charge, hopefully drowning out the iPhone’s criticisms of
a mediocre battery. And this beautiful device is expected to be announced on the September
12th Apple event and be released on the 21st with Apple’s new iOS 6 preinstalled.
Now let’s head on over into the Maybe category. Of course it figures that the next iPhone
should have a better processor but will it have the A5X chip, the one included in the
iPad 3 or a new A6 chip with a quad core processor as well as the quad graphics from the A5X?
Well it’s very hard to tell which is why I’ve put it in the maybe category. Honestly
at the moment I give it a 50/50 shot either way. The retina iPad requires a more powerful
chip than an iPhone so if the iPhone got a more powerful one than the monster ipad with
more pixels than a hdtv it would be a bit weird but I find it hard to picture Apple
deviating from their generational naming system, after all it is the 6th iPhone. So I give
it 50/50. Now this is where it gets a little shady,
the unlikely category. About a month ago it looked highly likely with what the rumour
mill had been churning out that the iPhone 5 would have NFC but that took a dramatic
drop recently with the exact opposite being anticipated. Apple now seem to be wanting
all devices to be able to use the new iOS 6 stock mobile payments application equally
and that would mean cutting out the NFC chip which would have made the new iPhone akin
to a credit card. Apple only really like to use experimental technology if it’s original
and NFC is not original. Not that it matters because there is barely anywhere where NFC
would prove useful anyway. Now probably the most buzzed about one recently is the possibility
that Apple will call the next iPhone the iPhone 5 which is very unlikely. Despite what some
people say the 5 in Apple’s event invitation is only a tease and what do people identify
with the most when talking about the next iPhone? The 5. And Apple can just deny it
anyway saying it is meant for 5 devices or 5 new big features of the next iPhone but
we all know they wanted to grab our attention for a new iPhone release. Apple don’t want
to confuse buyers and they like to keep things genuine. And I doubt Apple will completely
throw off their naming system just because of some rumours, do you remember when the
iPad was rumoured to be called the iSlate? Also another thing that seems very unlikely
is 128GB of storage. The iPhone only just recently got bumped up to a max of 64GB and
with all these new rumoured features I doubt Apple would have the budget for this. Another
unlikely one is an upgraded facetime camera, although it would be nice to video chat in
HD it’s just not a necessity and with even less room at the top with the thinner bezel
and close proximity to the ear speaker it seems almost impossible. Another improbable
rumour is a waterproof coating, with this being demonstrated with astounding results
and Apple being rumoured to be in talks with the manufactures it seemed likely but a coating
like that could take away from the natural beauty of the device and again, with the already
large amount of rumoured upgrades it seems unlikely. Something that might have actually
improved the iPhone experience though would have been something called Haptic feedback,
it’s basically that when you touch the iPhone’s screen you can actually feel the materials.
Thanks to the power of electrical signals haptic feedback lets buttons pop out to your
fingers and textures feel like what they’re meant to in real life but with the technology
seeming so far off and the quantity of updates already rumoured to be coming the possibility
seems remote. Now just for fun lets jump to the “no chance
in hell” category. I’ll mark this with a black colour and if you think that’s racist
you’re very immature. Anyway we have a no glasses 3D display like that found on the
3DS. Well this is ridiculous because the display would look horrible and it’ll take years
before anything comes close to the quality needed. We also have a bendable display, again
a bit silly, or maybe just a curved display that can’t bend and even a see through screen
like that seen in a certain concept video or holograms.
Also, just a disclaimer, please do keep in mind that my vision cannot transcend time
and space and that I work with what I’m given to the best of my ability so I would
be surprised if I didn’t get something wrong but I believe what is contained in this video
