Luann DiMonte of the Technical Department: At the very beginning, they're getting all
their equipment together. We make sure that all the safety requirements have been met.
We make sure the students have the right apparel on. The exciting part is to see how accurate
the welds are being done. It's very exciting at the end of the competition, where they
are just waiting in bated breath to you know, see who is going to win these fantastic awards
that have been donated by corporate sponsors. Getting them ready for college, I think the
important thing is for them to see all the resources that Joliet Junior College has to
offer students. And I think that they'll be pleasantly surprised with JJC being the first
community college in the United States, what resources that we do have and how much it's
changing on a daily basis.
