I've been studying Du Bois
to varying levels of interest
and intensity for
almost my entire life. Like many people, I started off reading
and, quite frankly, misunderstanding "The Talented Tenth"
As a graduate of a historically Black college-- one, in fact, that Du Bois
called a Black Harvard--
I feel particularly proud to have read Du Bois. But as I developed a greater understanding, it dawned on me that
this was something missing from interpretation of Du Bois' works.
It manifested itself in some of the work towards my master's degree, it was actually the focus
of my doctoral degree, so this is
just a natural extension and I intend to write
much, much more about the lack of exposure
of Du Bois' writings in the area of educational thought.
