- So welcome to The Rise of an Empire
from the Staffordshire Business Festival
at Uttoxeter racecourse.
It's going to be amazing.
(intense music)
- Hey so, what's up?
Well, man we've got a problem today.
I'm literally meant to be onstage in like an hour
and I've got, like, maybe a 45 minute drive to get there.
Me and Barney were playing cowboys and indians this morning,
which is amazing, before he went to school.
The trouble is, I think he's hidden my cowboy boots.
In fact, he's hidden one of them, anyway.
I've got one here, and as you can see I'm in a suit today,
which I never wear unless I'm speaking.
It's not like One Man, our uniform.
So I have to try and hunt my other boot down
in literally like, the negative 10 minutes
I've got to find it, so Barney's in for it
when he gets home from school.
But we're going to see if we can find this cowboy boot now,
and see what happens and then hopefully we can make sure
that we get to Uttoxeter on time,
where we're going to be talking about
how to legally *** your competitors online,
with the awesome guys at the Staff chamber.
I'm going to stop talking and let's go hunt this boot.
(playful banjo music)
- Em, have you seen (laughing), you know
we were playing cowboy and indians this morning with Barney?
- Yeah.
- [Charlie] See where he put the boots?
- No.
- (laughing) I've got one.
Are they anywhere in here?
- You could maybe wear your Nikes, though.
- Yeah, that ain't gonna work.
(Em laughing)
Let's go and try Barney's room.
(playful banjo music)
Aww, look, he's in for it when he gets back.
Cowboy boot, found, most importantly.
Right, there's gonna be a rush on now.
Let's see if we can make it.
But I've got two boots, this is amazing.
And I'm gonna quickly move,
we can now get cookin' on the stage.
So gonna have to put my foot down
and try and make it to Uttoxeter,
46-minute journey, in around about 40 minutes.
Let's see if we can do it.
(static hissing)
All right, we are officially on the road.
I am super, super excited.
So, on the main stage, keynote speaker
for Staffordshire Business Festival,
which is being run by the chamber of commerce,
which is going to be amazing.
All right, you've got hundreds of small, local businesses
in a room, which is what I love.
I think I had some gold medalists on stage yesterday,
as part of the keynote, so I'm keynoting today,
which is gonna be super, super cool.
I've now got two cowboy boots, which is amazing.
I had to do a gig in Moscow.
Long story, but my stuff went missing in the aeroplane.
Ended up having to do it someone else's clothes
and a pair of Nike trainers,
which didn't give the best impression onstage.
But that is a story for another time, not for now.
So we're gonna hit the road, and we got about 38 minutes,
the satnav says, till we get there.
And I've got to be on stage in about 35.
So we're gonna have to hit this fairly fast.
But luckily we've got some Bump Seger on the radio,
which is gonna keep us going.
So let's see if we can make this
and get there and see what happens.
All right!
(upbeat music)
Okay, so the good news is, made it to racecourse.
Literally 15 minutes late, but as I was driving up,
(laughing) I got the times wrong.
So actually, I am 45 minutes early,
which is absolutely amazing.
So we're at the racecourse now.
I'm gonna go find out when I'm onstage,
where it's all happening, and what's going on.
And take a look around.
So (clearing throat) I'm not actually,
despite being at the racecourse, a huge gambler.
But neither, neitherleless,
we've got some awesome, awesome stories.
So I'm not a big gambler on gambling on horses,
races and all that sort of thing,
but I do, without fail, always gamble on myself.
I think that's one of the big principles
of having like a one-man empire,
being, as part of this whole one-man empire movement,
I'm going, actually, you know what,
if I'm gonna bet, I'm gonna bet on myself.
'Cause you bet on yourself,
nine times out of 10, good (beep) happens.
Now (laughing), we've got one of our
private mastermind clients, a guy called Calvin,
he's got an awesome story.
But basically, when one of his companies,
going back a while ago, was pretty much at the brink
and he had a load of payroll to make,
(coughing) didn't have enough money to make it.
So he took, and went to the bank,
and took pretty much everything out of the bank that he had,
which wasn't a huge amount at the time.
Business wasn't going too great.
Went down to the casino on a Friday night,
put everything on black, basically gambled on himself.
And it paid off, it was absolutely amazing.
So he pretty much doubled, tripled, quadrupled his money.
Managed to get everything paid off.
Got the staff paid, all that sort of thing.
And we've got multiple thriving businesses today,
which is absolutely amazing.
So the key to this is, bet on yourself at all times,
probably not on the horses.
And that way, you can do loads better stuff.
So let's see what's going on at the racecourse
right now and have a look 'round.
(energetic music)
So, we've just finished up on stage here in the 907 room,
which has been absolutely amazing.
So these are the guys that have been
making this happen today.
The Staffordshire Business Festival
has been absolutely amazing.
Make sure you turn up tomorrow.
Is it tomorrow, where's it tomorrow, guys?
- Keele University.
- Keele University, come tomorrow, it's gonna be super.
What's happening tomorrow? Give us the lowdown.
- Manufacturers expo.
- [Charlie] It's what? Sorry, Lindsey.
- Manufacturers expo.
- Manufacturers expo tomorrow, Keele University.
It's going to be amazing, make sure you guys go.
And we'll catch up base later on.
Thanks very much, give us a wave.
That's us from Uttoxeter racecourse.
See you in a bit.
(intense music)
Okay, so, amazing time from Staffordshire Business Festival,
which was awesome.
We're gonna head back now.
I'm so glad we found both my cowboy boots, which was good.
Otherwise I would've looked like a complete and utter idiot.
So we're gonna head back now,
I'm gonna see what's going on back at home.
And this is The Rise of an Empire over and out
from Staffordshire Biz Fest with the chamber of commerce.
