Welcome to Fokaira channel
Today's mini idea is about Macrobiotic
My story with Macrobiotic began almost in 2002
At that time Macrobiotic was new in the Arabic world
I was struggling with allergy and digestion
I went to so many doctors but no one was able to give me a treatment to solve the problem
I started knowing about Macrobiotic through Mariam nour
She was giving lectures in some hotels
about the Macrobiotic diet
I was introduced to the diet and how it is
a philosophy
Macrobiotic the word means the large or great life
It is not just a food diet but a life style
which means you will not follow Macrobiotic for 7 days or a month and then go back to normal
This should be the way you live all the time
The first thing was how the teeth shows you how to eat
so you will find that the grinding teeth are about 60 -70 %
this means that you should eat full grains not processed
the grains percentage in the meal should be 60 - 70%
the same percentage of the grinding teeth
then you have the cutting teeth
they are 8 teeth
this means you need vegetables between 20 - 30 % of the meal
Proteins
represented in the canines
you have 4 so you should eat proteins 10% of the meal
One of the important products in the Macrobiotic diet is the full grains
such as Wheat, barley, corn, rice
full grain
Veggies need to be organic
Also Miso soup is important
Miso is fermented soybeans
it acts as natural antibiotic
when I started getting to know this diet my problem was from where I can get the products
But at that time some shops opened about 3 shops in whole Cairo
that had those products
I didn't follow the Macrobiotic but applying what I found logical
so I began eating full grains and until now
sometimes I don't eat full grains but mostly yes
I try to eat organic most of the time
and Miso soup ofcourse
other concepts that were convincing
was eating fruits and veggies in their seasons
you can't eat something imported from other place
for example you are in a cold country and you eat mango from tropical forests
Other concepts which I applied in my life
is throwing the can opener away
so I don't use any canned food
or soft drinks
I try to drink fresh juices and smoothies
Macrobiotic is based on the Yen and Yang idea
which says that every thing in the world consists of two opposite forces
such as tides, hot and cold
so the human's body itself is a balance between Yen and Yang
if something went wrong because you eat too much yen food or to much yang
this changes the balance of the body and cause sickness
the cure is to get the body back to its balance
if you were more yen for ex., get back to your balance
George Oshawa was the founder of Macrobiotic
he was Japanese
then he moved to Euorpe to France and wrote about 300 books in Japanese and around 30 in French
he started getting known and Macrobiotic began to spread around the world
so most the Macrobiotic food is Japanese
this doesn't mean that you should eat Japanese food because
one of the laws of Macrobiotic is to eat from your local environment
and in its season as I said
I believe that You are what you eat
If You eat healthy this will make you healthy
If you are not eating healthy this will affect your health
but we can argue about what is healthy and what is not
sometimes you take something as healthy and it turns not to be healthy
This is a very big issue
I hope the episode was useful
and now you know few things about Macrobiotic
If any of you tried this diet, you can write me in the comments below the video
I welcome all your comments and opinions
you can write me any questions as well
