I was very scared when I first started. I hadn't been to school for 2 years
and I had very, very little self belief.
But I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I settled in. And I was one...
a part of...I was just like everyone else, really. I definitely think
the support for mature students is fantastic here.
The Learning and Skills Centre - which really enables you to learn how to study again and gives you strategies for
essay writing, reading and any problems you experience -
then you have the Mature Students Society, which is a support mechanism in
itself that brings mature students together.
There's a common room that we can use
with refreshment facilities, newspapers, just somewhere you can go and chill
or talk to other mature students who are maybe in different subject areas.
I think Aston welcomes mature students as much as any student. The support mechanisms that are in place
are fantastic and will get you through.
What a journey! It was really scary. It was quite nerve-wracking - you think "ooh, it's all going to be work and
you're not going to have enough time to live. But you actually do. And you become very, very good at it.
