Hi! I'm Karina Fraley for Expert Village, and today I'm giving you advice on baby proofing
your bedroom. Outlets are kind of the old standard, the no-brainers, for baby proofing.
There are many products out on the market to achieve this. Initially, many years ago
there were just very simple little plugs that you stuck in. There were plastic plugs. Over
time, they actually proved to be inefficient. Very young children were able to pull them
out, and they became choking hazards. A busy mom who goes and pulls it out and plugs in
the vacuum cleaner and is done with the vacuum cleaner, will often forget to then put the
plug back in. It becomes not only an electrical hazard, but also a choking hazard. To sort
of respond to the need, companies have come out with a variety of different options. One
of them is the new and improved plug. This actually requires that you push in 3 different
places in order to engage the plug. You have to push to put it in. Once you let go, it
locks into the outlet and you have to push again in 3 different spots to release the
plugs. This is actually a good option. If you don't want to go this route, you want
something a little easier that you're not going to have to remember to put back in,
because this could be a choking hazard if you don't remember to put it back in, are
some new face plates. I will talk about those a little bit in the next clip.
