Hey guys, it's Grisha and Bean and I wanted to show you an example of something that you
might accidentally be doing. So if your dog jumps up on you and you say, "no," you might
actually be reinforcing that behavior with attention. So here's a thing that Bean has
learned to ring, just so that it says the word, "no." I haven't given him any treats
for this. [The bell] just saying "no" is the reinforcer. He likes the sound, he does sort of get
a bit frustrated too, so maybe he is looking for treats inside. As you can see, the sound
certainly does NOT serve as a punishment. It's not getting that behavior to stop. In
fact, it's probably getting him to continue. So anyway, think about that when you are working
with your dog and focus on reinforcement instead. So here actually was a little punisher..I
took away that sound [the bell] because of his barking, and then giving it back is a reinforcer. Anyway,
that's it. Please like, share, subscribe, and visit me at GrishaStewart.com. [to Bean]
