Hello and welcome to Cupcake Addiction's Chocolate Freckle Cupcake Tutorial where I'll be showing
you how to make this great chocolate freckle or chocolate sprinkle cupcake, really easy
and really effective. Sprinkles cakes or freckle cakes are really
popular at the moment judging by what I'm seeing in the different cake decorating blogs,
cake decorating websites, so I thought it's only fitting to come up with a chocolate freckle
cupcake to match. Tools and equipment we have today:
I've got a regular butter knife. I've got a whole lot of hundreds and thousands
sprinkles so these are the tiny little round ones. I've got those in a wide, not too deep
dish but I do have quite a deep layer of them there because we don't want that cupcake to
bottom out on the bottom of the bowl. We want it to just roll in the hundreds and thousands.
I've got some of the dark chocolate ganache frosting. I've decided on the dark chocolate
ganache because the chocolate freckle --as a candy, very popular here in Australia -- but
it's essentially chocolate with sprinkles on top so I'm going with a chocolate cupcake
with a chocolate ganache and the sprinkles should taste exactly like the candy just in
cupcake form. Let's get started.
I'm going to take the back of my knife so the flat edge of my knife. And I'm going to
take the cupcake. I've got the chocolate ganache. Now I've got this in quite a workable consistency,
so when you first make the ganache, it's really runny, and then it sets quite hard. To get
it to this consistency, just give it a little bit... a little bit of a [shot] in the microwave
and stir it around until you've got something that you can actually scoop, spoon -- spilled
over the sides- and spread on to your cupcake. So I'm going to put a couple of dollops of
it on. I like a fair bit of frosting to put 3 dollops. See there, I'm just putting them
all on the top. Wife off your knife, and then using the back
of your knife again --always the back because it's nice and straight -- I'm just going to
spread that out to the edges. Now I want to make sure that I get as close to that patty
pan or the cupcake case as I can because I don't want that to be any cake showing. I
just want it to be sprinkles and then cupcake case. Beautiful. So I'm happy that I've gone
all the way to the edge. Now I'm just going to round that at the top. It doesn't have
to be perfect because we're going to roll it in the sprinkles and you're going to get
an opportunity to round it out in the moment. Now for the sprinkles, I did say this was
really easy. This is literally all there is to it. We're going to dip it in the sprinkle.
And see I'm just picking it up and re-dipping it. I'm actually rolling it, picking it, dipping
it, picking it, dipping it. Do the top and out it comes. Now just to make sure that it's
that perfectly round dome, take the palm of your hand and just pat it into shape. Nothing
will come off because you got a lovely sprinkle barrier in between you and the actual frosting.
Now I've decided to garnish that I want on top of this are just some of our little tiny
fondant bows with tails. We've got a tutorial to make those on our channel. But obviously
you can use whatever garnish you like depending on the finish that you're looking for and
the occasion that you're making them for. I'm just going to take a little bit more of
that ganache, pop it on top. That's going to act like a bit of a glue, and on goes our
lovely purple bow. I think you'll agree they're incredibly easy,
really effective. And if you are into making sprinkle cakes or freckle cakes, this is the
perfect way to (Inaudible 03:31), the perfect take home gift.
