From Comedown to Delta, Machines are the name of the game in this week’s new releases
roundup. New York indie rock giants The Strokes may
have left behind their reckless charm, but there’s a lot to love about their latest,
Comedown Machine. Their fifth studio album shows off the band’s undeniable flair for
hooky melodies, tightly knit rhythms and jagged guitar riffs.
Meanwhile, from his home planet, Lil Wayne delivers the sequel to 2008’s I Am Not a
Human Being. Tunechi is in fine form on this semi-official album that features guest appearances
from artists like Drake, Nicki Minaj and Soulja Boy.
And back on Earth, Depeche Mode return with Delta Machine, their 13th studio album and
first in four years. The synth pop survivors serve up another set of darkly sensual songs,
even adding a gospel-like quality with the single “Heaven.” For more on these and
