The Pentabellow Rotary Air Engine
The idea of making a rotary air engine has been floating around in my head in the since
I miss labeled my radial air engine when it was first uploaded back in 2011
It wasn't until recently a simple yet effective means of delivering and
controlling the energy potential to the drive mechanism occurred to me
controlling the energy potential to the drive mechanism occurred to me
This allows the engine work on pressure vacuum or both at the same time.
The trick of course is delivering the air through the main axle
or shaft
and through the engine
while using that same structure to control the flow to the bellows
Here is quit look at the plan
and some of the steps to build the engine.
For a more detailed build of the engine I have a 4 part series making the Pentabellow Air engine.
You might ask why bellows driving the engine instead of pistons, the answer is simple
I have never seen a bellows driven rotary air engine before
It worked so well I will probably make a piston version in the near future.
Here it is being powered on my old bellows based pneumatic power system
While it doesn't generate much pressure or vacuum that fact that it does both at same time
allows it to easily power the engine.
I designed a power take off attachment so I could take some measurements and drive
other things
