So having done that you walk in the first place, you would check is the microphone from is from the stage. All this is in context if anything that the sound engineer requests of you. But it will include these things you'll sound check from the stage, you will talk, you need to give them a steady stream of sound until they tell you that they got it. If you don't have something that you want to talk about try doing the alphabet. I like the alphabet, I also count when you count to ten and count backwards from ten. If you do that a few times you'll find that you tend to hit most of the aspirated constants and vowels and so that gives them a pretty good idea. After they got a rough mix if you're walking around testing your sound they'll probably do a rough mix on you and then any other individual, one at a time. Once they done that they will allow you to be live all at once so that they can find out if there is frequencies that are overlapping or if there is some feedback issues to do with the multiple microphones.
