Hi, welcome to video 1.5 Working with Text
In this module, we will learn how to add text to shapes and freestanding text to a drawing.
To begin working with text, have the “party1.vsd” file opened.
Visio allows users to enhance their drawings by adding text. They can be attached to shapes or freestanding with its own textbox.
To add text to a shape, double click the road shape next to the building at the bottom right of the drawing page and then type “Main Avenue.”
Visio allows users to create freestanding text which is text that is not associated with any shape.
Freestanding text can be used to enter titles, lists, callouts, footers, etc.
To add a freestanding text, let’s begin by clicking on the text tool on the standard toolbar.
Now click and drag to create a textbox at the top right corner of the drawing.
In the textbox, type in “Directions to Cathy’s Party" and then hit the Enter key.
Now type in “Starts at 4:00pm”
When finished, click on the Pointer tool.
Double click on the freestanding text, and notice that the whole text is automatically selected.
To deselect the freestanding textblock, click in the blank area of the drawing page.
