DJ ROB - 1992 IS FOR YOU (Parkzicht Base Mix)
Housetempel Parkzicht, Smashing memories?
That's for sure, when I was 14 I experienced the first time clubbing at Parkzicht
together with my nephew, it was crazy! Things you saw there are indescribable.
And it was great to spin the decks at Parkzicht when I was 19. It was an honour to me.
You deejayed at Parkzicht at the age of 19, which music did you play back then?
I was a resident DJ at Club Pompeii in Rotterdam, DJ Stanton from Parkzicht asked me to play at his birthday bash.
I could play whatever I wanted so I spinned some break-beat old-skool and Bonzai records.
The people on the dancefloor liked it, it was great.
Which track was played often at Parkzicht in those days?
A huge hit at that time was: Holy Noise - James Brown is still alive
That track was the bomb and the reason for me to buy house records.
It was the first record I bought back in the days.
HOLY NOISE - JAMES BROWN IS STILL ALIVE
Parkzicht was known for the opening hours, often till 9:00 AM.
Also afterhours from Raveparties in Rotterdam were held at Parkzicht. Like "Nightmare at the Park".
In those days afterhours parties were very special.
We're at Midtown Records in Rotterdam-South.
You worked here for 11 years.Tell us about it?
I started working here in 1993 with nice collegues. Got into the housemusic really well and met a lot of interesting people.
When you work in a store like this you're on top of all new record releases, it's a change to develop yourself.
I worked with Fabian from "Euromasters"
And the Nightraver, he's resident in club Hollywood in Rotterdam.
I also worked with Neophyte's producer Jeroen Streunding.
I'm still hangin' around with Eric Mulde,
He brought me in at Mid Town. He's a friend who comes with me every weekend.
Do you still come over to buy records?
Sure, every 2 weeks I check the new records and I will keep doing that.
