Enjoy the notes. Video demo begins at 01:41.
Basically, this is like a 45-minute video. But, anyway, I'm going to touch up my sides
or my edges.
4CHairChick, Evelyn On The Internets and you guys friend (sorry I don't remember the name),
listen, I just like for my edges to be laid. To me it's more polished for my hair. And
although I'm not like *** about it, I do "slick down my edges". LOL
So this is how I do it -- and, yes, still more gel. Yes! :). "Gel is my friend". No,
seriously though, I haven't had any serious adverse affects from doing this: one, because
I don't force the temples of my hair -- force the hair at the temples rather into really
tight 'do. That tension and stress pulling on my edges and they will come right on out
your head.
What I do is apply the gel like this around the perimeter of my hairline. And, no, as
you can tell, I'm not 4C, but I am a woman with hair! And that's what this all boils
down to, I think.
Find out what works for your hair. And the purpose, I believe, of the charts is to help
you with what your hair needs. I went to those charts -- I don't know what they're called,
but my hair is in the category of the 4A - 3C. 3C is like under my ear.
So all any person can do is work with what you have, whether you chose to perm it or
curl it with a curling product or what have you; you just have to work with what you have.
All any woman (or man) wants to do is enhance what comes natural. So I don't have a problem
with designing my edges -- LOL -- as Evelyn says.
So this is what I do. And I do make sure I have enough gel because If I don't, I can't
get the effect I want. So here we go...
Put it on like that. I just slick the product on. And, yes, my hair is still some what damp
when I leave out. Okay.
I always use a paper towel to [clean] up the edges. So that's what I do on my edges.
Some times I wear a tendril, and I was going to do that today, but time kind of got away
from me.
Now, my edges and am I going to make baby hairs? Hummmmm, I don't know Some times they
just do their own thing, and I'm happy with that.
And, as you can see, my front -- just the front of my hair it grows to the side and
up, and so that's what I pay attention to, including this glob of gel right here.
All right. Okay. And do I use a brush? Sometimes I do. You'll see in some of my videos I do
use a brush. It just depends on like what's going on with my hair. Is my hair cooperating?
Or whatever the mood is. I'm not opposed to brushes. I don't use the brushes a lot. I
learned that.
But, let's see --. Okay. Let's work on the back. I put the gel about there. Okay.
The other side. See, that's what it looks like if I don't have any gel around the perimeter
of my hair. And some times I don't care. But on a Sunday when I'm supposed to be going
to church, I want to make a good impressions so I'll gel it.
I try to give it a more polished look. This gel is not hard or crispy. (It's a moisturizing
gel.) Okay.
Now, I'm gonna put more gel in because I can feel that it needs it. Oh, yeah, I put plenty
of gel in my hair. It loves it -- my hair.
I'll come back on and show you my hair dry. Now, I'll put the magic moisturizer on top
of it. It makes it shiny and soft.
Okay. And then I do this. Now, do I want to do spit curls? You guys call them baby curls.
We call them spit curls where I come from.
So like I said, I'm just fine tuning my hair and finishing the final touches. I think I
might put this side up only because -- I don't know. Because it will dry and I'll be done
for today.
So I may put it up or I'll just leave it there. Sometimes if I just leave it there for 10
- 15 minutes, it doesn't entirely dry, but it --- I don't know. I just seems to work
out.
So there's my edges, Evelyn, 4C Hair Chick and you guys, I am in the category 4A - 3C.
But, like I said, we'll all women. Well, we'll all just people. Period.
Look at that gel! Way, way too much, but that's okay. Could I use some more spit curls? I
could. But I feel like I have to be in the mood to do them.
But let's see. Wait. I have to get all this stuff off my temples. I just washed my face.
And that's another reason I don't bother doing a lot of spit curls, because when I wash my
face, it kind of does its own thing.
Anyway -- so, yeah, my edges -- my normal edges have come back in since I've gone natural.
When my hair was permed, I didn't hardly have my -- these little fine hairs around here,
no. And that was just the chemical.
So, anyway, this is my hair. This is the top. I guess that's it. And this is the other side.
And I didn't use my brush today. Sometimes I use my brush to make it smoother.
Anyway, this is Angelic Messanger, Angela D. Thanks for joining me. This is Day 1 of
my 7-Day challenge. I'm challenging myself and my natural hair products.
I've seen it over and over again, and I thought I would show you guys on YouTube that with
my natural hair products, which are 100% organic and natural, that I make here at home that
I can have this 'do and I only have to refresh it. And it looks fantastic -- fantabulous!
Okay. So thanks for watching. I hope this video is not too long. I'll probably cut it
up into smaller segments so it's not too long for some viewers.
Hi! My new subbies! :) Thanks for joining me. I hope I'm able to teach you something,
and I hope I can learn something from you too!
