One of the nice things about vibe is that not only can you use it independent as a great
balance training devise you can also have other accessories as we discuss earlier. Get
your arms out with the weight and try to hold position using your full body, keep your head
center, can you hold position? There you go, try not to move just stay center, okay now
hands down, try to shift your weight, shift your weight okay and try to change direction
like you did before, push down with your left foot, okay it’s a different feeling when
you’re using weights with a vibe disc you have to get really comfortable using the vibe
disc without any weights before you start adding any extra items but using the weights
can be a great tool for creating more sensory integration. I’m going to get on it with
these five pound weights while Kathleen’s continuing to get comfortable, this is actually
her first time working with weights, I’ve done it before and one of the nice things
about it is that weights can act as stabilizers, so as you’re rotating their a great way
to create an additional exercise which involves your arms as you’re rotating on the disc.
Now that’s one way you can use the weights to stabilize, see I was loosing control and
I put my hands out and because of the inertia I was able to stabilize, step off don’t
fight it. Another exercise you can use weights is what I call 180 curls, some basic biceps
curls while you’re rotating on a range of motion of 180 degrees, so as you’re rotating
you alternate your arm and you have to know how to use this in a basic turning function
otherwise it’s very difficult to coordinate the weights, see how I’m timing the bicep
curl with the change of direction, what that does is it helps me utilize my motor functions
with my balance training.
