Hi my name is Josh Burlage and I own BeeHive Homes in Columbia Falls with my wife Jesse.
It’s a great community, a great town. It’s just a very homelike environment. We are just
set in the most beautiful setting here and we like to take full advantage of that. We
have a bus that accommodates our residents. So one of the things that’s fun that we
like to do on a given nice day here is haul all the residents in the bus and load up and
go to Glacier National Park where there is just majestic beauty all around. We just really
kind of leave it up to the residents what they want to do. We were hoping to exercise
a couple days a week and they decided to do six days a week so we actually have exercise
every morning for about 15-20 minutes. The current home is a 13 unit home with the potential
of 15 residents. Our second home will be a 16 unit home. With residents that have Dementia
and Alzheimer's, the small staff is also a unique aspect that is very helpful and a home
environment for them. A lot of times what family and the residents want is to be in
an environment that’s fun, their going to feel loved and cared for and I really feel
like with our small setting here that residents don’t get lost in a crowd. That we’re
able to look at those small things that they like. And make that a part of of what happens
on a daily basis. We have a great collage of residents that make this home very happy
and spirited. I think one of the biggest blessings is they keep track of my medication so I don’t
have to worry about it. All my basic needs, I don’t have to do it alone. The atmosphere
is home, I’m so thankful for a place that’s comfortable. We seem to be a family almost
immediately. It’s been an absolute answer to prayer. My name is Tommy Peterson and I’m
a personal care attendant. To be a caretaker for me, it’s just, it’s my life. I have
a large family and I love taking care of people in every way shape and form and I’m at home.
It’s home, it’s where I belong. I watched my grandfather die in a nursing
home. He worked his whole life, worked very hard, owned a business, was very successful
and I just felt like he worked his whole life for what to lay in a bed and die. I just felt
like we can do better for our seniors. We need to do better for our seniors. So I started
to look and do some research to try to find a place that was more of a family setting,
more family oriented and ran across BeeHive and it fit the mold perfectly. Exactly what
we were looking for and here we are. This is definitely a place that I would love, for
my grandfather to have been able to be in.
