They told us to run it passed the administration before we did it, so we went to the administration
to let them know that we were in the planning stages of this dragshow, and they met, all
the administration met and made a suggestion about it to change the name, not to call it
a dragshow but to call it a talent show. That suggestion is what really through me off,
like I didn't understand at the time to understand why everyone was so worried about bringing
the drag show to campus. After meeting with my director of student affairs, I then, he
was able to tell me the concerns that the campus had with it and was able to address
it. We worked together and brought the drag show to campus and made seven hundren dollars,
and it was very exciting, a very good thing. Everyone is not Hilary, and it's not fair
for me to assume that everyone should conform to what I believe. I want to know where everyone
else is coming from. And broadening horizons, just little steps in someone else shoes and
they can see what their going through. And make the world a nicer time, if everyone took
that time, that little time, to be with someone else, be someone else, or experience someone
else's culture, beliefs. These little things are easy and you don't even realize you are
doing it, but at the end when you sit back and think that you just really experienced
something that you would have never done, we're working really hard to make sure that
continues, those little things. We had a teachable moment, that is what I call it, it's a teachable
moment and now we are all learning. I really believe even on our little campus, there are
a whole lot of people that really care, they're as concerned about u being a welcoming environment,
a place that welcomes everyone. This is like everyone, we all kind of felt the same at
the end. We just did the right thing, everyone wanted to do what was the right thing.
