Thank you for your question. Mark writes that he's been participating in an
allergy shot
therapy to boost his immune system in the hopes of abandoning his allergy meds.
But he's noticed some different side effects including erectile dysfunction
when he takes
antihistamines. Could this be due to side effects of medication,
age or a combination, and should he see doctor at this point? Yeah, I I definitely
don't think that it's a coefficient
of basically the allergy shots or anything like that. It can be
caused by medications, and medications will often cause erectile dysfunction.
Those medications
could include high blood pressure medications, they could include allergy
medication- something like benadryl-
or even some of the non-sedating type of anti-histamines. I don't think it's the
allergy shots or anything like that. Now,
if the erectile dysfunction continues,
then of course, see your physician. You could even develop something called
peyronie's disease, and peyronie's disease can cause a certain amount of
scar tissue
that can develop and that can contribute to the erectile dysfunction.
They're using new medications for that particular
condition called ziaplex, which has recently been FDA approved, so if you
suffer from peyronie's disease which is one step even further with the erectile
dysfunction,
you might want to consult your doctor about this new drug. Again, ziaflex
approved by the FDA.
