My name is Amber Burdeau.
I am a blackfeet from Babb, Montana
and I am a pharmacy student at The University of Montana.
So your hemoglobin a1c was 4.3 which is excellent.
Well my original plans were to come to The University of Montana straight out of high school.
However I did
get pregnant and had my first child and decided that
I needed the support from home.
I have lived in the University Villages for the past couple years
and we decided to move there because we really needed a place
to feel like it was home.
I volunteer to do stuff like this because
I like to be active and
busy in our community.
I think what helped me find the balance was
meeting
new people who or meeting people who were experiencing the same thing.
It is a great opportunity to be be able to
be in a pow wow
environment and be able to
provide screening programs for free to
people who I know.
So you want your total cholesterol to be less than 200.
Hi my names Zeba and I'm from Browning, Montana
and my wife is Amber,
and tomorrow she will be completing
her pharmacy,
and I'm very proud of her.
It was
a tough
six years for us but
we survived and succeeded.
She's my role model.
She,
She makes me wanna go to school now.
You know she's worked so hard for it and tomorrows the day, you know.
It's so neat.
I'm so proud of her.
I can't even begin to explain how happy I am for her and her family.
My grandma has been very influential in my life. She also has high expectations of me
she is really the support
behind those expectations.
[Announcer: Amber Burdeau from Babb, Montana.] [Cheers]
Coming to the University of Montana
and knowing
all the stuff that I have faced and all the challenges I have over come
it just makes me a stronger person,
knowing that I don't
have to face those challenges anymore
and that no matter what I can over come pretty much anything.
