Interviewer: I just love Sam Rockwell and I just have to ask you guys, what
was it like working with that guy?
Liam: Possibly one of the best experiences I've had in my life. He is just
such a lovely guy, and I like to think that I'd be friends with him for the
rest of my life. It's just such an amazing process, and he brought so much
improv to the role and so much life to the role that I don't know if
anybody else could do that because he's so amazing. I think he's probably
one of my favorite actors of all time.
AnnaSophia: I'd have to say the same. I saw one scene that he did, and
every take would be different and new energy. I was so impressed. I love
his other work, too. So just to be able to watch him was such a treat.
Interviewer: I think the story is going to mean a lot of different things
to a lot of different people. What was it that most spoke to you?
Liam: What most spoke to me was the whole mentor part of Sam Rockwell's
character, really mentoring Duncan. We have all been there, at this point
in our life where we are just lost. Just stay away from me because I'm not
good enough and all these things. I think it's really important for an
adult to really reach out to a child. It doesn't have to be their parents
because nobody listens to their parents. Sometimes friends cannot be the
best influences. Friends can sometimes be great influences, but they are
also kids so they're dealing with their own things. I think that one of the
things that I identified most with is just having that mentor being there
for you.
AnnaSophia: I definitely agree with Liam. Also, what attracted me to the
role and what the universal message is everyone's sort of in their own
world. I feel like we have this great motley crew of characters. But at the
same time they are all living in their own world, struggling with their own
issues. And I think that the script does a very good job of displaying the
relationships and the histories that each character has with one another.
And the relationship to the place that they are in, but saying it with very
few words.
Interviewer: Having Jim and Nat, not only be the director but also the
people who wrote the script, was that a big help?
Liam: And acting. Yeah. They had been working on the script for about ten
years and it just...
AnnaSophia: And it shows.
Liam: And I'm so happy for them with the movie. It was just such a
pleasure to be working with them. And I felt so comfortable.
AnnaSophia: I'm so proud of them. It's such a great script, one of the
best I've ever read. And it was such a fun film to work on. They worked so
well together and had such a clear vision, but were able to do it with - it
seemed like - with such ease. I know that there was blood, sweat, and tears
into this movie. On set they just seemed like they were really, really
enjoying themselves, which made everyone else really enjoy themselves.
