In this class we’ll learn how to make a skirt fixed on the body.
We’ll need a body that has at least one row
made with stitches that were made getting the back handles to form these
free handles here in the front. So, it’s above these free handles that we’ll
make the skirt of the doll or of the plush toy.
I’ll turn the body upside down because we’ll need the skirt to be above the legs.
The legs will be here. And I’ll fasten the thread in one of these handles.
So, I’ll just pull the thread
and make a knot. After that, we’ll hide the tip of the thread.
After that, we’ll start to work on these handles here.
To make a skirt, we can use the single crochet,
we can use the double crochet, we can use a crochet’s stitch,
we can do the way we want. So, here I’ll use a double crochet.
I’ll make two chains just to adjust the stitch’s height
and I’ll start to make double crochets inside these free handles.
Then I’ll make two double crochets inside each one of them,
but you can make three if you want. Then it would get with more lazy waves.
So, here I’ll make one.
I’ve made the second.
In the next handle
I make another stitch. And I’ll keep making the stitches, there isn’t a separation between them.
Two more stitches in the next handle, here.
And I’ll keep doing it like this until the end.
We’ve reached the end of the row. If we wanted that this skirt was bigger,
wanted more rows here, wanted longer, so we’ll make a slip stitch
and two more stitches to adjust the next stitch’s height,
two more chains, by the way,
let’s start to make a stitch over each stitch.
And we can keep going on like this until the skirt reached the size that we want.
In this example, the skirt will be short. So, I’ll make a slip stitch
to unite both sides of the row. I make one more, I’ve already cut the thread, I pull the thread.
Now, we’ll hide this thread.
I’ve passed the line through a darning needle, I’ll turn it around
and around the back here
and I’ll pass the thread inside the stitches.
After this, just cut.
And the skirt is done.
We’ve here a skirt’s example that was made with two double crochets’ rows
and a single crochet’s row here at the end, but it’s a short skirt.
In this example, the skirt is full of lazy waves.
During the making of the body, it was made many rows,
four rows actually, by getting the stitches in the back’s handles to leave the handles
in the front part free. And each one of these free handles’ rows was made a skirt,
so each one of them, each lazy wave of these here,
was done with two rows of double crochets and a row of single crochet.
So, it was four overlapped lazy waves.
This is an example of a longer skirt. It was all made in double crochets,
just the last row of single crochets and changing the threads
so it would look like this, striped. At the end,
it was pinned here a lace inside with just some stitches.
This skirt was all made with single crochets. It was two ruffles,
it was left two rows with free handles, right, working on the stitches, on the back’s handles.
Then, the skirts were made with single crochets.
And in this example, the skirt was made with crochet’s stitches.
It was made a row here with double crochets, then more stitches
and, then, two rows of single crochets. And it looks like this.
