NAYYERA HAQ: Climate change is caused by carbon pollution, and it includes everything from
warming of our oceans, to extreme weather events, to melting of our glaciers. What this
means for you and me, is that heat waves and flooding leads to rising food prices and increased
risks of asthma for our children. In fact, 12 of the hottest 14 years on record have
happened since the year 2000 alone. We have a moral responsibility to leave our planet
in a better condition than how we inherited it. That means that every day, President Obama
and Secretary Kerry are working to address climate change. President Obama has proposed
several measures to make sure that we are cutting carbon pollution, and putting ourselves
on a path to a clean energy economy, while reducing our dependence on foreign oil. Internationally,
Secretary Kerry is working with countries one on one every day to find an international
agreement and new ways to curb climate change, together. Now we'd like to hear from you,
on what you think your government should be doing - and the United States can do - to
contribute to cutting carbon pollution.
