In this video you will learn how to configure the cloud driver for JDBC in order pull data
from your DataDirect Cloud data store into business applications that support JDBC.
To reproduce these steps, you will need to have a data source already configured in the
DataDirect dashboard. This data source should define how to connect to your cloud data store.
For this example we will use the data source for Salesforce, called DDC_SF.
Refer to the Getting Started with DataDirect Cloud video for more information on setting
up a new data source. The JDBC driver is compatible with common
business applications, such as Yellowfin. Let's start by downloading and installing
the driver. Click Downloads from Quick Links and the list of available drivers appears.
Select the required driver from the list and save it locally. For this example I will use
the JDBC driver for Windows by clicking the Java link.
Run the DataDirect Cloud Driver for JDBC installer, accepting the default settings.
See the Installation section under DataDirect Cloud Driver for JDBC in the DataDirect Cloud
Documentation for details. The driver is installed.
Test the connection using the tesforjdbc tool provided with the driver.
Launch the tool from the installed JDBC driver directory by double-clicking the testforjdbc.bat
file. The test for JDBC tool appears.
From the test for JDBC window, click Press Here to Continue. Then select Connection from
the menu and select Connect to Db. Replace the default value of the database
name, mysforce, with the name of the data source you configured in DataDirect Cloud.
For this example, use DDC_SF. Enter your DataDirect Cloud account credentials
in the User Name and Password fields, and click Connect.
A connection successful message appears. You are now ready to use the driver with any
JDBC-compliant business applications. Refer to the Progress Pacific Help videos
on found at www.progress.com/products/pacific/help for more information.
