May 17th is the International Day Against Homophobia...
What is your message to the Cypriot Society...
about gay rights and homophobia?
Of course I wish there was no homophobia, nor a need for an international day for this purpose...
...simply because I believe homophobia is synonymous with racism.
I am totally against any racist sentiment and I believe that...
...racism exists in many things.
But, in this case especially, it's strange and bad what is happening.
I've seen many children with problems because of their treatment by society.
And if you like as a mother, my message is even stronger...
...if my child came to me and said 'Mom, I'm happy and I'm gay'
...as today's kids say...
I would say bravo my baby, since you are happy I'm happy...
...that is to say I wouldn't even have to prove that by saying it.
It would simply mean my child would live happily.
This one thing concerns me, interests me as a parent and also as a citizen of this world...
...I want to see people happy, whatever their preferences or love interests.
It is strange how societies are structured...
...and people have grown up with traditional ideas...
...are not to blame.
But they are to blame, for many reasons, for they didn't go and open their ears...
...and minds for themselves and make up their own mind about what they want to believe.
The organisation 'Accept' has been created in Cyprus, which supports gay rights.
Do you want to say a few words?
I like the name 'Accept' because that is what needs to happen...
...we need to accept, to open up, to be free, that is what is needed...
...therefore, I'm free, I think freely, I'm not a racist and I accept!
"I accept" therefore the happiness of others, however the others chose to be happy.
I thank you guys, I wish the best for your organisation and also for everyone...
...you help and to whom 'accept' is addressed to.
