Hi, this is Kathy.
In this video, we're going to go over what's due in Week 2 for BOT 100.
Log into Blackboard. In the menu bar on the left, scroll down to the Weekly Assignments
link. Click it.
Find the link for Week 2. If these dates are different than the dates for your semester,
that's okay.
On the top of the page, you see the homework. You're going to do Keyboard Mastery Lessons
3 through 5 this week, and you're going to take the Keyboarding Techniques
quiz. There's a link to it down here.
These are the tips for Keyboard Mastery lessons 3, 4 and 5. When you click here, a PDF file
opens and you can print or read that; that will help you out for that
lesson.
Here are the tips for Lesson 3; for instance, the PDF file. There's a link here to go to
the Keyboard Mastery website; and remember you log in with the school login,
mira, and the school password, mira. And you choose this option
here for the screen based or this option here for the book based.
When you're ready to do the Keyboarding Techniques assignment, if you're on this page, you can
click here. You also can navigate to the link. it's under Assignments, and it's the
Key Techniques link. So you can click that to open the page.
At the top of the page it tells you that this is the two part assignment. First you're going
to read the PowerPoint or PDF file and watch a video. I'm going to open
up the PDF file here for you. So this is what it's going to look like.
I'm viewing this on a Mac. It will look similar on a PC.
Let me just scroll through the pages. And you can use this as a guide when you are taking
the Keyboarding Techniques quiz.
When you're working with PowerPoint, you can click your slide to view the next slide.
Down here, you can click this button to go to the next page.
So please watch this PowerPoint file.
These are important keyboarding tips...how to sit in your chair, how to place your hands.
This is great posture right here.
The video may or may not work, depending on your browser. It works sometimes in Internet
Explorer. If the video doesn't work, please refer to the PowerPoint presentation
or the PDF file.
And then you're going to take the quiz...a short quiz...five questions.
This is the Keyboard Posture video, Kathy Striebel, the department chair, made that
video. She teaches this class also.
Then you're going to come down and you're going to take the quiz. Click the link to
take the quiz. These are the instructions. Click "Begin"
These questions are randomized so they may be in a different order. So Question one is
fill in the blank.
Then you have some multiple choice questions. Another fill in the blank question. And then
in this question. "List the seven steps for a good keying posture": You're
going TO click in this box here; and it would be great if you could type 1. and then
type that step; and then 2. and type that one, et cetera. You also could click the numbering
button just once and then you could type your answer. Press enter and then type your
next answer, et cetera.
Four of the questions will be scored automatically; and then, this last one, I need to come and
grade it. When you're done answering all the questions, you're going to click "Save
and Submit"
Good luck on that quiz.
So again, this is for Week 2. Weekly Assignments. Week 2,
You're going to do the Keyboarding Techniques Assignment and Keyboard Mastery Lessons 3
through 5. If you have any questions, send me an email or come see me in the lab
when I'm a lab assistant or you could make an to meet me privately during
an office hour. Alrighty? Have a good week.
