Hey Lancers! I'm Sarah Hansen. It's Thursday, February the 20th, and PCC One starts now!
PCC One. Campus news in a minute.
PCC One is brought to you by the Pasadena City College Academy of Professional Learning.
The Academy of Professional Learning. Opportunity. Engagement. Collaboration.
There are a lot of things you don't want to miss today on campus, so ask yourself:
[music - Y'all ready for this?]
I hope you brought your appetites because it's first come-first served from noon to
two, in the Quad today. In celebration of Black History Month, and for your cultural
and culinary pleasure, the Associated Students is bringing in the city-famous, Central American
Soul Food Truck -- Postcards. Don't miss Postcards' Soul Wrap, it's a little bit
of heaven served in a wrap. Oh, and did I mention it's free? That's right free. Hashtag free food at Pasadena Lancer Lens.
Continuing the Black History Month celebration, a performance of "The Art of Jazz" by the Jazzantiqua
Dance and Music Ensemble, with special guest, Jazz Vocalist Dwight Trible, will start at
6 tonight in the Westerbeck Recital Hall. This event is brought to you by the Campus
Diversity Initiative and promises to be a magical evening of jazz, blues, visual art,
and spoken word.
Time for PCC Sportsbeat [whistle. beatbox]:
Though our Lancer baseball team was wetted-out, that's right wetted-out, due to an automatic
sprinkler being left on, for Tuesday's game against Grossmont, the two teams will try
again down south in the "big box," otherwise known as El Cajon. First pitch is at 2, so if you're
near the border, stop on over. Our Softballahs, who are on the upswing after their weekend
sweep of Oxnard College, return home to face the Vikings of Long Beach City College at
Robinson Field. The Lancer hit parade starts at 2. Be there.
Looking for money to help pay for school? You're in luck. VAMS, or Visual Arts and
Media Studies, will be awarding a scholarship based on artistic accomplishment and academic
achievement at PCC. For the requirements and more information, go to vams.pasadena.edu/scholarships.html.
The deadline to apply is February the 26th, so hurry up. Also, the President's Latino
Advisory Committee, or PLAC, whose mission is to help the educational success of Latino
students at PCC, is happy to announce its annual scholarship. You can apply for the
scholarships at the PLAC website: www.pasadena.edu/about/president/plac.cfm Cfm? That's right, cfm.
Lastly, if you have any interest in doing what I'm doing, Lancer Lens will be holding
talent auditions on Friday, February 28th. Just contact us at lancerlens@pasadena.edu
and we'll set you up with an audition time.
That's all the news that's fit to stream. If you have any news items or announcements
that you would like shared, please submit your request to lancerlens@pasadena.edu.
