Hello everyone. Today I'm taking a look at the ArmourDillo Hybrid case for the HTC One.
Now as you will know if you saw my HTC One review, one of the things that I found
quite
upsetting about the HTC One was this very shiny back that it has and unfortunately it does
mean that there's very little grip there when it's in your hands so a case is really
recommended for the HTC One not least because it's a very expensive device and
we don't really want to drop it unnecessarily.
So I looked around and
with the HTC One
this is quite a
fully featured device, we've got the front facing speakers on there for instance,
I wanted a case which kind of worked with the functionality that the HTC One
has so didn't obscure any of the ports or anything like that or more importantly
obscured these speakers. And also I wanted a case with a kickstand because
you can use this device more easily
in a multimedia fashion to video, movies or even
recording video but having that kickstand there
gives you more flexibility. So to actually use this it's not quite as
straightforward as some of the other cases. It's actually in two parts
so we have this outer piece here
which is like a guard and then we have the inner piece as well. So what we do first
we pop our HTC One into the inner cover
like that and it just clips all the way round
and it has an edge around it
so you've got some face plant protection.
Then you pop it into the overall cover
which also has the kickstand, whoops, get it on like that, it goes on quite easily.
There we go and now that is the HTC One fully protected.
Now to get the kickstand out, all you do is lift up the back there
and that's it done
straight into kickstand mode.
And to push down just click on the back and
off it goes. Now
What I really like about this case more than anything else is the rubberised
ArmourDillo texture as it were. It just sits perfectly in the hand.
By now, if this wasn't in the case it would already have fallen straight out of my hand but
because we have this texture on the back and the texture grooves are actually very very deep so
it kind of almost moulds itself into your skin
quite nicely.
You then have these pieces around the back here which are like a grip effectively
so when you are holding the device
your fingers can sit into these grooves and it is not going to fall out of your hand.
This case would be absolutely ideal for anyone working in buildings
you know, building maintenance or anything like that, anywhere where you're going to be taking a
device out of your pocket an awful lot and you want that dependability that when you've
got it in your grip it's staying in your hand
not just going to slide through at any moment.
Or the worst possible one is you go to take the device out of your pocket
and it just slides straight through your hand
and down onto the floor missing your pocket completely, sadly. With this case
you are going to have plenty of grip it's well textured and more importantly
that kickstand really adds some extra functionality to the HTC One that
was missing before. It keeps your
front facing speakers
and the ports all nice and available
and at no point do any of your attachments feel constrained at all by the amount of space
you have in this case.
Slightly
recessed camera
which while it has allowed plenty of space around for the actual port my concern is
it does
kind of block out some of the light coming in from
one direction.
That's one direction as in sunlight, not the band!
Other than that though, for the cost of this case
it's an absolute cracker and well worth picking up if you're looking for
a case for the HTC One
that is going to really protect it, is nice and ruggedized, has some additional
functionality built in, the kickstand
but also works with all of the HTC One's core features. It's not obscuring or
getting in the way
of any of these really useful ports or speakers, a really really nice case
the ArmourDillo
and well with checking out if you ask me.
