Hi. I'm Jennifer Durbin, and I've got some tips for you on travelling with a toddler
who's potty training. This may sound really overwhelming, and it can be, but with some
planning it will be a lot easier.
So when your little one is potty training, you know that it's very important to keep
them on a regular schedule so that they're comfortable and you don't have too many accidents.
While you're on the road, remember to set an alarm. Get the little one a potty watch,
or set an alarm on your phone so that you're regularly taking trips to the restroom, so
you don't have accidents.
Make sure you have plenty of changes of clothes and zip top bags, just in case you do have
accidents. That makes it a lot easier to deal with those.
You can also make some fun games out of it. When you're traveling, make a game out of
how many different restrooms your little one gets to try. Talk about the color of the floor
tiles, the ceiling, anything you can to get your child interested.
Don't forget, it's okay if the child backslides a little bit. It's tough to potty train, especially
in a new location.
You may also want to consider travelling with a little travel potty. If you're on a long
road trip, you can throw it in the backseat, just in case. Always have a seat cover handy.
These are not only entertaining for the little ones, but help if you're caught in a restroom
that doesn't have a seat cover.
