Hey guys. We recently had a question from YouTube user P Turner
about a recent video: What Credit Card Data a Business Can Store.
Here's the question. Where can I find the PCI regulations for proper physical
storage of credit card data?
I run a restaurant where customers want to leave the credit card info on file
for easy ordering and billing. I was under the impression
I could not store this info on file at all. Apparently that's not the case.
Well you're in luck, cuz I'm going to answer that question.
P Turner, I gotta say
I love your question. In terms of physical storage,
you're allowed to store anything from the from of the credit card.
Now, the back to the credit card is a totally different story. You're not allowed to
store any of the data from the back of the credit card
after authorization. For more information, I've linked the PCI DSS navigating document
in the description below. I think you'll find page six
and seven really useful.
I really appreciate your question and I hope this video response has been helpful.
See ya next time.
