The protesters - Anonymous. The date, November the fifth - intentional.
This was the London branch of the Million Mask March, which saw demonstrators wearing
Guy Fawkes masks take to the streets, campaigning against, among other things, global injustice.
Now a days, the mask is synonymous with the anonymous movement. Orignally a hacktivist
group, it's now more of a loose collective of like-minded people, an idea if you will,
mainly concerned about things like campaigning against surveillance and corruption, and protecting
internet freedom.
Marches took place all over the world in what was dubbed the Million Mask March and OpVendetta.
The mask, of course, features in the movie V for Vendetta.
In the UK, hundreds of Anonymous supporters, mainly with their faces covered, marched from
London's Trafalgar Square, to Parliament and Buckingham Palace. There were some minor scuffles
with police along the way, but no arrests were reportedly made.
