Hi there, well I’m coming to you from the 43rd Fieldays at Mystery Creek and what a
wonderful atmosphere there is at the Fieldays. Record prices down on the farm.
Commodity prices extremely high, volumes good. It’s a glorious day, so the milking season’s
been extended. And there really is a tremendous atmosphere
here. So a lot to celebrate. The Fieldays are a great way to showcase,
not only what we are doing in agriculture here, but also internationally.
We have a lot of overseas visitors coming to the Fieldays, and a great way of showing
the innovation, creativity, productivity increases that we’re getting on the farm.
Interesting little fact, New Zealand is exporting more lambs today than it did in 1970-odd when
we had twice as many sheep. And that’s just an example of the productivity that we’ve
managed to generate from the farm. So, a lot of export dollars being earned here,
as I say, farmers starting to spend a bit more money with great pay outs and just a
wonderful atmosphere. So, great to be part of
it, great to open it, and you must come, if you haven’t been yourself, come along. It
doesn’t matter whether you’re a farmer or not, you’ll probably find that there’s
a lot
here that’s interesting and the hotdogs taste pretty darn good.
