Welcome to the Instructional Architect again. In this demonstration you will learn how to
set up an account to use the IA. After going to the main Instructional Architect page,
click on I am a Teacher. It will take you to the next page. Click on register. This
page is divided into two sections. The left explains how to create an account and provides
suggestions for using the account. You may want to pause this recording and read over
the concepts that are listed here. The right side is where you can make an account. Let’s
go through the steps. First, create your login information. Type in your email address.
Create a password and type it in. Then re-type it. We recommend that you write down your
login name and password so that you’ll have it handy. Next, look at personal information.
Here is where you record the information that will be related to your account. Type in your
first and last names. Then create a screen name. This is the name that will appear on
the front of your IA project. If you are a teacher you may want to put in your title
and name. For example: Ms. Ives. Then, type in your zip code. The student login option
is really an important feature. It allows your students to access your projects that
you’ve created without getting into the sections you’ve designed. Think of something,
like a word or a name that your students will use to login to your project. Your last name
is one idea. Type that in. Be sure to write this down also. The next section is about
how you heard about the IA. Please click in the right box and the date if asked for. Please select your subject areas carefully.
It allows other users to know what your IA project is about if you choose to make your
project public. Click on only those that fit your situation the best. Next, click on the
appropriate grade or educational level. All of these can be modified later if you choose
to do so. Next, mark the amount of years that you’ve taught. Also, rate your level of
comfort with technology. The recaptcha box is here to help make sure the account is made
by a person. Type in the letters that you see. Then, save all of your information. You have
now created your account. It will take you to the login page. The directions for how
to login are on the next video. Please watch it.
