Hey, guys. Van here from RCNightmare.com. Today I’m going to show you how to glue
a tire to its rim and for today’s demonstration I’m using a buggy front tire.
Okay, so the reasons why you’re going to want to glue your tires is to keep the tread
and the rim together. This is really important for your drive wheels – mostly your rear
wheels where the power from the motor is getting put down to the ground. What could happen
if your tires aren’t glued is when you do full throttle from a dead stop, the rims could
slip and spin inside the tire and your car won’t be moving very fast anywhere. For
the front tires – not important – but for the demonstration, this is what we’re
going to do it with. So, what you’re going to need to glue the
tire is some tire glue.
We have some Losi standard tire glue here. The trick to this is just to bend back the
tread a little bit here to expose the little channel, or groove, on the rim where the end
of the tire goes. Once that’s bent back, drop in a couple drops of glue and then quickly
put the tire back and work the glue into the groove. As soon as the glue is in the groove,
it’s actually going to spread out, so I’m going to try for three spots on here. Usually,
I like to do three or four, but depending on how it goes.
So, let’s get started. Alright…okay, so like I said, just pry back the tire tread
a little bit – I don’t know if you can see this real clear – and then apply a couple
drops. Okay and glue’s in place. Just going to bring the tread down. The glues isn’t
actually running as quickly as I thought so maybe I can get four spots in. So quickly
over to this side. This is pretty much like super glue, although its formulated for tire
gluing. It is pretty much like super glue, and like such, it dries very quickly so once
you start this process, you’re going to have to move with a little bit of speed here.
So, that was the third one, and this is the forth one. Just kind of evenly divide them
out. What will happen is the glue will run down the channel, and what I’m doing is
just applying pressure all around the tire to help spread the glue around.
Okay, and then just let this set for a bit. There you have it! That’s how you go about
gluing the rim on the tire. Actually, this is only half of it – you’re going to need
to do the other half, but I’m going to do that off camera. Okay, so a few drops, work
it in, and that’s it. And then of course, like I said – do the back two, don’t just
do the front, because it’ll be better.
Alright, so if you have any questions just post them below. If you have any questions
