SHOCK: Hey, guys.
It's Shock from The Electric Company.
I'm here in this great, big, green studio.
The big green wall behind me is called a green screen, and
I want to tell you how we make ourselves be in totally
different places.
What we do is we take a camera, and then you film in
front of this big, green studio.
We take that footage, we put it through the computer, we
replace that whole green, and we fill it in with something
completely different.
So I could be on top of a waterfall, or I can be
underground or underwater.
We use a green screen in a lot of my segments on the show to
put me in different locations, like a karate guy into a
karate dojo or a butcher in a butcher shop or a secret agent
climbing up the side of a building.
Or there even can be two of me in a city.
And even if I'm wearing a green shirt, you can fill in
the green with something different and make it look
like I have no body.
So keep watching The Electric Company and see if you can
spot all the times that we use a green screen.
