I think it's since the classes are so much smaller than the main campus
it's a good place to adapt to the college life
class sizes weren't too bad
fifteen, maybe twenty students there
and some of your smaller classes there could only be, maybe, twelve kids in that class
there's hands-on learning here
their approach to adult learners seems to be that they really want your participation
I got a strong education, I got a strong background
they want you to be in the front of the class and share your experiences
I do know friends that have done undergrad research, independent research with different professors
and right now they're working with agricultural science
there was a group of engineers and they actually were working with NASA
doing different things with crops and genetic engineering
they launched a rocket
I had an opportunity to, actually, do a small internship with my professor
the class sizes are pretty small, so you get to know your professor
and have a relationship with them
my favorite class this semester? um...
Biology; Biology; Hands-on forestry program
Dr. Hawkins is a good teacher
she taught me a lot
she's one of those professors that you can talk to about anything
whether it be biology or something out of class
she pushes me hard, she makes me think, and I like that
I could walk down the hallways on my way to class and and see my professors
just hanging out in their office in between their classes
take time out of their busy schedule to just sit down and talk to us
and just stop on in and say "hey, what's up?"
If I went to them for help, they would help me like that
coming out of high school you have to realize that this is college now, it's a big change
Having all of the deadlines, all of the exams, on certain days kind of stresed me out
for like the first month or so
teachers aren't pampering you like they used to anymore
you have a dream that you're fighting for
but them as I developed a routine I was able to adjust pretty well
I can get the help I need from teachers or people that I know
make sure that you pay attention to the deadlines and when to sign up
use your resources
we have the academic support center and those guys in there are great
it was my life freshman year
make one on one appointments, or there's also group study sessions
there's a computer lab, there's quiet places for you to study
I was able to use online labs they have for papers that I had to write
you can get tutoring
or there's a person there that will proofread papers before you turn them in
help you with your writing skills
help you to learn how to take notes
how to study, test-taking
which was very helpful
whatever you wanted, it was there, it was there in our reach
you just gotta go for it
the tutors are the ones that really helped me find my nitch
I learned the basic student skills like not to procrastinate, time management, organization
there I moulded into the leader I am today
I changed from what my parents told me they'd seen in high school and I've grown up into a young person
