Hi and welcome to another review!
Today we'll be having a look at NECA "Cult Classics" Patrick Bateman, from the 2000 "American Psycho" movie, which is part of series 1!
This figure has been released in 2005 and it's 7" scaled, it stands about 7 inches!
Let's take a closer look at the card, since I don't have the packaging. I'll put a picture of the boxed figure on the screen just to show you how it looks in package!
On the left, we have the poster of the movie.
"Cult Classics" Series 1.
On the side, we have this artwork featuring Patrick Bateman's business card, which is not included as accessory unfortunately.
On the back, a picture of the action figure and this read up dedicated to the "Cult Classics" line.
This one is instead dedicated to the character, Patrick Bateman.
The other figures in this line, "Cult Classics" series 1: Jason Voorhees, Eric "The Crow" Draven, "Gremlins 2" Mohawk and Patrick Bateman.
And here we have the team who developed this figure.
Let's take a closer look!
The headsculpt is pretty good, maybe not the best sculpt by NECA, but the likeness to the actor Christian Bale is pretty good I'd say.
Not a lot to be said, it's basically a man in an elegant striped suit.
The stripes are sculpted. While the ones on the shirt and the tie decoration are printed.
Nothing else special to mention...
The articulation is extremely limited: head is on a ball-joint, the arms can fully rotate at the shoulders. Full rotation at the hands. There's a slight rotation at the waist and here at the ankles.
As for the accessories, Patrick Bateman has a lot!
Starting with the base.
It has these newspapers on it. They're actually a sticker, it's real paper, as you can see.
Then we have the briefcase.
The walkman, very nice!
A VHS, actually it is a *** movie, as you can tell from the eloquent title. Very nicely detailed. So small!
The nailgun. Very nice as well.
Then we have an extra hand with tight grip, to hold the two different knives he comes with: a pointed one...
...and a more squared one.
Finally, we have this axe.
If you're a fan of the movie, like me, this is the only figure you can find on the market. Actually, NECA released a 18" version of this figure with chip sound. So it's up to you, it's just a matter of which scale you prefer.
Price wise: this figure is pretty rare abroad (outside the Europe), while you can still find some for a good price on ebay Europe and ebay Italy, for about 25-30 bucks plus shipping. So I suggest to check those sites.
I strongly recommend it! It's true, articulation is extremely limited, but it comes with a lot of accessories and it's a very nice display piece! If you're a fan of the movie, buy it with no hesitations!
To me, this figure has a special meaning because it's a present from my girlfriend, so I not only like it as figure and character, it has an affective value as well.
That being said, I'll see you on the next video! BYE!
