Welcome to Rome !
Called as "The Eternal City" too,
Rome is a multicultural city which is historically very rich
where Roman Empire's treasures
kiss the vestiges of the Renaissance
in a starry sky by modernity.
Cradle of a christianity almost cultural,
Rome gave birth to democracy as we know today.
But it could be better to see this with your own eyes...

Here I'm in Rome !
I will stay here for 6 days.
I came thanks to Easyjet airlines
often proposing cheap flights in Europe.
I will sleep in a campsite,
trying to enjoy the most, spending least.
Always trying to meet people from Roma,
and so it is...
Does the "Dolce Vita" exist in Rome ?
That will be my question !
Here we go !
Navona square was during the Roman Empire a place of celebrations.
Popular and historically very rich,
It's a peacefull and bustling square (during the morning)
with its market.
But take care of the bill which could be steep...
Vestige of Ancient Rome in the city centre,
it takes an afternoon to visit it entirely for 7€50 (18-24 years old)
valid too for The Colosseum and The Palatine Hill for 2 days.
Immersive tour but wearying during summer, true walk of warriors...
So I decided this morning to wake me up early
to see the Vatican Museums
but... with this queue...
I've just FAILED !
Impossible to miss it with St. Peter’s Basilica where the pope gives blessing.
Designed by Bernini, "the second Michelangelo", big artist of Renaissance,
this square is the siege of the the smallest country of the world : Vatican City (830 inh.)
It has even its own police !
A nice walk when you are sick of church.
It goes to the Galleria Borghese
Think about some reductional cards like Roma Pass (20€)
valid for 2 museums or archaeological place that you choose.
Near the Quirinal square, where is the presidential palace,
is the Trevi fountain, the most popular of Rome.
Fusion of different arts with its wonderul proportions, it used to supply water.
An huge monument of white limestone unveil in 1911
for the king Vittorio Emanuele II.
A bit bling-bling Romans name it "pièce montée" or "writing machine".
Great example of what Roman Forum looked like possibly.
Here I'm in the campsite...
Paying for only 9€ per night,
you can't expect miracles...
With its death struggle between gladiators and animals,
spectacles of the Colosseum has entertained Romans for 5 centuries.
It was the largest amphitheatre of the ancient world.
It could received between 45000 and 73000 spectators
The best-preserved of all the monuments of Ancient Rome (27-25 B.C)
dedicated to all gods even there statues has been missed.
Inscription of architrave says : "Marcus Agrippa, son of Lucius, built this when he was consul for the third time".
So it is !
Here is the end of my travel.
To dislike Rome it's easy,
you just have to dislike waiting for the bus during one hour at least whereas you're in the city center !
Chiefly if you're travelling during summer...
But if I had other places to advice you to visit,
you should go to the Circus Maximus
which received 250 000 during the 1st century for chariots race.
The Cinecittà studios, the biggest centre of film production of Europe,
where a lot of films has been shot.
If I had to answer to the question "does the "Dolce Vita" exist in Rome ?"
I will say "Yes !"
Simply in the Trastevere district, with its cute streets and its beautiful churche,
it's possible to meet some serene souls...
Rome counts over 400 church
and if some of their façade could be banal,
sometimes you just have to enter into the building to admire the whole complexity.
Example with the church of Santa Maria della Pace
and its Raphael's painting,
San Luigi dei Francesi too and its wonderful ceiling.
How do not to talk obviously about St. Peter's Basilica, situated on St. Peter's Square, where is the Vatican himself.
And of course what should I say about Vatican Museums ?
Of course !
Oviously !
Leonardo da vinci's paintings, Michelangelo...
Being in the Sistine Chapel and smelling this soft perfume of...
Alright...
