Hi there! I’m from Close To My Heart.
Today I’ll walk you through how we made the trendy cards
found on page 93 of the Autumn/Winter 2011 Idea Book.
And, I’ll show you the matching box
and some ultra stylish accents
that embellish the box!
Let’s get started!
For these cards, we used
the My Acrylix® stamp set called Happy Clusters.
The stamp set has two large images
and several smaller images
that fit perfectly inside the larger ones.
That’s the trick we used when making these cards!
I’ll show you what we did.
First, we stamped the large tree in second generation.
And then we chose coordinating images
for each circle of the tree and stamped those images
inside the coordinating circles in first generation
using the same ink.
Then, once all of the first generation
images are all stamped,
we chose several clear buttons that matched
the size and shape of the stamped images
and attached them to the tree, like this.
Then, to take the cards to the next level,
we added 5 Bling buttons from our Bling assortment.
They add a bit of the unexpected!
On this card, we used the large star image
and did the same technique;
however, to make the star stand out even more
after stamping it, we used a star
from the Cricut® Art Philosophy cartridge as our stencil
for adding the stitched lines around the stamped shape.
Then, we continued with the same technique as the stamped tree:
We filled in the circles and flowers
with similar images,
but this time with a different color ink,
and then added colored buttons,
clear buttons, and silver brads.
Super cute!
And finally, on this box,
we used Background & Texture paper and cardstock
that coordinates with the color scheme of our cards,
but the real “wowie” is the paper embellishments
on top of the box.
To make the embellishments,
we used a Cricut® border, like this,
and scored and folded it.
Next, we brought the two ends together
forming a circle, and secured it with adhesive.
To make the flower a bit more secure,
we stitched the inside circle together
then simply folded and pressed the sides down in one motion
to form the flower.
Finally, we placed a Rhinestone Designer Brad on top.
It looks tricky, but it’s really quite simple.
