Knowledge Management Workshop “Democratic Economic Governance”
The community Agua Blanca in the Machalilla National Park
was the site of a re-encounter with ancestral wisdoms and practices.
A sulfurous spring emerges in the majestic environment
its clay rejuvenates and beautifies those who cover their faces and bodies.
This is the difference between use and coexistence with the water
amidst the ancient cultures Machalilla, Chollera and Valdivia.
Vessels with rustic paintings, stone tools and necklaces of Spondylus shells
are characteristic to the community.
Antonio Pico, a member of the community, describe the history of the river
– This is what happened to the river I am fighting for
How the river over the years slowly has disappeared
and how the story of the river is being recovered by those who lived it.
With his guitar he played melodies of everyday life brightening theafternoon.
A cultural performance portrayed the re-birth of Mother Earth and Humankind
The arrival of the waters take precedence over the sun
giving life to that which did not have.
The holy water forms part of the knowledge and experiences
of the participants of the international workshop
where programmes from Mexico, Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua, Angola
Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Paraguay, Philippines and Ecuador
met to exchanged approaches, techniques and theories.
Various ways to exchange knowledge were presented at the workshop
such as social networks, videos, books
and other types of materials to display experiences gained and shared
during the Knowledge Management workshop
for the MDG-F Democratic Economic Governance programmes.
