>> "Call Sharon" "Hey Sharon, I am going for my daily tour.
Did you edit the production data yet so I can
prepare my monthly status report?"
>> "Just working on it." "Good. I'll be back in 10 minutes, we can
go over everything then."
"Call Dan" "Hey Dan. What just happened? Looks like
we've got a recirculation event on our line one
pasteurizer?"
>> "Yeah I know, we had some issues with feedback indication on one of the valves so
we temporarily bypassed it and quickly restarted
production."
"How'd you manage that?"
"It's PlantStruxure PES, this new Distributed Control System from Schneider Electric that
we have now. It's loaded with real-time diagnostic features that basically guided
me right to the problem. For example, we've got
dynamic views of all production transfer functions and field-level devices, like that
valve, plus their linked objects. It's going to
save me a lot of trips to the plant floor!
"Sounds good. Thanks for that, talk to you later!"
"End call."
"Call Martin"
"Martin, just wanted to let you know it looks like the adjustments you made last month to
the powdered milk line really helped. I have just checked our energy costs and we've
already saved 3 percent. What exactly did you do? I want to see if
we can get the same results on some of the other
lines in the plant.
>> "Well, our PES system has integrated energy awareness and really let's us see where our
energy is being consumed to make our products
and where it's just being wasted.
"Great, so we're not only saving money ... we can also monitor and control our carbon
footprint and become a greener company. Thanks!
Talk to you later."
"Accept call"
>> "Hey Jason, do you have a minute? I want to
give you a quick update on the extension project."
"Of course. Everything okay? Do you think we'll be able to launch the new extension
on time? "
"Actually everything is going according to plan
for a change. You told me you chose PES mostly for its process and energy efficiency,
but from my point of view, the engineering tools are just as valuable. Since both
applications are so similar, we were able to
simply copy the configuration and replicate it in
the new plant.
Well, we did have to make some minor adjustments, but we are up and running much
more quickly than usual.
Even configuring the system was easy - we just dragged and dropped symbols from the
library and they maintained all their links. Configure once, use many times, as they say.
It's not just sales talk!"
"OK, sounds good. Thanks for the update. It really seems like PES is helping us optimize
our costs in different parts of our plant's life
cycle. Keep me posted, will you?"
"Sure."
