It is chaotic. Above and below, it is chaotic
Perimetral is jammed at this hour.
It was already jammed when we came from Avenida Brasil at 3:30PM.
But what will be done to improve?
What is going to replace Perimetral is what we call via Expressa,
[A NEW VIA EXPRESSA - 5 KILOMETERS] which will connect Aterro and will have an exit near Armazém Oito.
Perimetral has four lanes, two in each direction
and via expressa will hold six lanes,
an increase in the flow capacity.
But, to build this future, there is the actual work…
There is all this suffering.
... And there is obviously a worsening in traffic, it is complicated.
So imagine, Arthur, you who are always stuck in traffic.
It is a moment of change, pretty intense,
but you can’t improve things without breaking the egg,
and this is the phase we are going through.
And the phase of Perimetral, which is the most impactful,
we waited until via Binário do Porto was ready,
[BUS STATION] [NEW CONNECTION TO GASÔMETRO] which is a parallel connection to Rodrigues Alves,
between the area of the bus station and Praça Mauá
it is a temporary solution.
The function of Binário, in the future, is to replace the flow of Rodrigues Alves,
below Perimetral.
But what will impact this improvement in traffic
is the investment in public transportation.
Perimetral is a symbol, one of the biggest symbols of a city planned for cars,
not people.
What we want to break is exactly the opposite,
planning a city for the people.
