My name is Lynn Heere. I'm from Los Angeles, California.
I'm majoring in German Studies because I learned so little about Germany when I was in high school.
Germany was only an important topic when we talked about wars.
And I thought that there must be more to this country.
Around the same time, I discovered that my last name is German, and that peaked my interest even more.
My first year at Wesleyan, I took Frau Bork's elementary German class.
And, before I even knew it, I was in Regensburg, in Bayern, for seven months.
And that was where I really got to know Germany.
Tasty food, good beer, and wonderful people.
I really like the life style and culture in Germany.
And when I was in Regensburg last year, I decided to make German my major.
And next semester, I will write my honors thesis on the1968 movement in Germany and the Baader-Meinhof gang.
One day, I would like to go back to Germany. Maybe with a Fulbright or DAAD scholarship, hopefully, in order to continue my studies.
Mainly, I want the German language and culture to remain a part of my life.
